I have always been interested in science and health. For over a decade I have helped patients in outpatient clinics, nursing homes and hospitals.
It has been all too common to see end stage chronic diseases such as diabetes with amputations, dementia, cancers, end stage kidney disease on dialysis, strokes, and heart attacks to name a few.
The current health care system focuses on treating chronic disease primarily by either prescribing medications or offering procedures. Often the root cause of chronic disease is related to less than optimal lifestyle choices. I realized if many sick adults could change their lifestyle, they could immensely improve their health, especially if they did this before they became too sick.
Benjamin Franklin said it best when he said "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"
I therefore decided to make a change and became certified in lifestyle medicine in order to embody the healthiest version of myself and to help others do the same.
